The challenge.
To get your hands around a nice trout and release it back into the river for another day. Everything that goes into that moment – the hatch, sighting the fish, the fly selection, the setup, the presentation, and fighting it to the net.
That’s the lure of fly fishing.
This is a painting of a 19” beautiful rainbow I caught in the Tailwater of the Arkansas River on a March day in 2022. He took a #22 Red D-Midge above the #1 Plunge Pool. The brownies were spawning and he was sitting below a redd eating eggs or whatever else was dislodged from the activity on it.
